End of 2019 Goals Revisited

Well well, we should really revisit our 2019 goals before sharing our 2020 goals with you! I actually feel pretty good about the house projects we finished. However, like always we over planned and didn’t get through our whole list. Will we ever get though a list? I doubt it, but maybe 2020 will be our year.

Here are the goals we set in 2019, my new comments on those goals are in bold. Many of these projects are done, and were just never blogged… maybe I’ll get that done in 2020.

Home

  • Finish living room built ins - We got these done, and we love them! They look amazing and were well worth the time. Having a place to put some of our most loved items up and our of toddler reach, plus storage for books and toys has been such a bonus.

  • Baby gate - Done! it took way too long, but I love our gate.

  • Kitchen (2nd photo)- the first thing we are doing is painting, the rest really can wait. I’d love to see the whole thing done by the end of the year, but if we don’t have the money I’m not worried. It’s really all cosmetic. If we were going to be in this house another 15 years I’d totally do a more intensive face-lift, but we’re not.

    • Paint trim, crown, ceiling, walls - hopefully finish by the end of April?

    • New cabinet hardware

    • Restore floors - by end of summer?

    • New faucet

    • Better storage and organization for cabinets and counter

NONE of the kitchen was worked on… oh well. Maybe next year, or maybe not. I know it would really change the way i feel about our house, but we just keep putting it on the bottom of the list.

  • Refinish upstairs bedroom hardwoods - DONE

  • Move & new garden boxes - DONE

  • Playroom - Well, it is started, that horrendous yellow room in the photo below. The flooring just came in and Paul said “I think we can get this room done in a month” Errrrr, I’m not so sure about that. We still have loads to do in here, really we have just started in my mind. My mind is thinking about it being all the way done, decorated, furnished and all. Paul just wants to see it painted, flooring in, and trim done.

  • Oh, a new living room light wasn’t on the list, but that happened! Now however I want new lights in all our our house, we could really use them. Relatively low cost, but big impact change.

Other Megan Projects

These are just thing that Paul doesn’t need to help me with to get done.

  • Finish headboard -Done!

  • Painting dining room table & chairs - Not done

  • I’d love to finish our bedroom… - Not done

Personal Goals

  • loose 30+ pounds - Nope, this didn’t happen. I had gained a little weight while pregnant with our February baby, but after I miscarried I never lost that weight. Then we ate really poorly for a few months. School started, I was pretty depressed and cooking or working out didn’t make the priorities list. And that is OK. The core of this goal was to take care of myself, and the care I ended up needing looked a little different.

  • Blog more regularly! - I started strong, and then lost steam. Oh well. I have a stockpile of things I want to share, but it is a matter of writing and hitting publish!

. . . . .

So, we certainly did the best with our home goals and not so much on my personal goals. It was a tough year, certainly the toughest I’ve ever been through. It really impacted my motivation and desire to get anything done.

We have started out 2020 list which I am excited to be sharing next week. How did you do with any goals you set last year?
